Marine-turned-filmmaker wants people to stop 'hero worshipping' soldiers and focus on issues



In the new documentary, 'Combat Obscura,' former Marine Miles Lagoze hopes to end the glamorization of war, and show what it's really like in combat. The film aims to change the 'sanitized and sanctified view of the military,' by showing viewers what combat is actually like. Lagoze created the documentary largely with footage he shot when serving in Afghanistan, but also includes footage never approved by the Marine Corps for release.
